Civics rebrands to Bucks Buccaneers

Civics has officially changed its name to Bucks Buccaneers, the Namibia Football Association (NFA) announce on Thursday. The change in name and ownership is effective immediately, the NFA said in a statement. “This follows the successful completion of an ownership transition and subsequent approval by the NFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF),” the NFA confirmed. “Civics Football Club recently entered into negotiations regarding new ownership. Following the NFA’s review and approval of the ownership change, in accordance with NFA Statutes, the new owners submitted an application for a name change. “The NFA, after consultation with CAF, has received positive confirmation regarding this request,” the NFA stated. Civics were founded by a group of young students in 1983, who initially named the team after a local street – Bethlehem

Baby Gladiators rally for World Cup qualifiers

The Baby Gladiators are determined to improve their performance this year following an underwhelming showing in 2024. The team assembled for camp on Sunday, ahead of their first assignment of the new year which will see them face Uganda in Kampala over two legs of Fifa under-17 Women’s World Cup qualification next week. Uganda host the first leg on 16 January at the Kampala Hamz Stadium, with the second leg scheduled for 19 January at the same stadium. Baby Warriors head coach Hafeni Ndeitunga stresses the importance of putting their best foot forward, in what is expected to be testing matches against Uganda. His side endured a torrid time at the Cosafa tournament for their age group in November and December, losing all three of their matches by high scores.
