They officially exited West Africa’s main political and trade group on Wednesday after more than a year of diplomatic tensions. The withdrawal has shaken ECOWAS, which many consider to be the continent’s most important regional group and this year marks its 50th anniversary. While its leadership said in a statement that the group would “keep ECOWAS doors open” to the three countries, their departure has left the organisation’s future uncertain. In what can be described as a heinous act, a yet-to-be-identified person has reportedly raped a two-year-old girl to death. The incident was said to have occurred in Ningi, headquarters of Ningi LGA of Bauchi. The disclosure of the ugly and unfortunate incident was made by the State Police Command in a press statement signed and issued to Journalists by the Command PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili. He narrated that, “On November 5, 2024, an incident was reported to the Ningi Police Divisional Headquarters that a motionless body of two-year-old baby was found beside a Mosque on Deneva Street, Ningi LGA, with suspected signs of rape.” “Upon receiving the report, Detectives were dispatched to the scene, and the victim’s body was taken to the General Hospital Ningi, where a Medical report
