Director Carl Rinsch Indicted on Charges of Defrauding $11 Million From Netflix

Director Carl Erik Rinsch has been indicted on charges of fraud and money laundering for allegedly taking $11 million from Netflix and spending it on luxury cars, antique furniture and mattresses. Rinsch demanded the funds in order to finish “White Horse,” a science fiction TV series that was never completed, according to the indictment. Instead, he allegedly used the money to make “extremely risky investments,” to pay for stays at the Four Seasons and for other lavish purchases, and to hire lawyers to sue Netflix. Rinsch, 47, was arrested Tuesday in West Hollywood, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. Netflix declined to comment. Two months before Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking trial begins in New York, the U.S. Attorney’s office today brought down a new charge against the ‘All About the Benjamins’ performer and shoved back hard on the former mini-mogul’s efforts to have evidence snagged by federal agents squashed. “The S2 Indictment contains no new charged offenses but includes additional allegations related to the racketeering conspiracy charged in Count One,” a short accompanying letter to Thursday’s superseding indictment says. This is the second superseding indictment against Combs since his arrest last fall. “Specifically, the S2 Indictment contains additional allegations as to the means and methods of the racketeering enterprise related to forced labor.” According to prosecutors, one of the ways that forced labor was induced was Combs demanding sex with staff. “These

Supreme Court delays deadline for Trump administration to pay $1.9B in foreign aid

The U.S. Supreme Court temporarily delayed a court-mandated deadline requiring the Trump administration to pay nearly $2 billion to contracted aid organizations for work they already completed. Chief Justice John Roberts, in an order Wednesday night, stayed a lower court order that the administration pay out $1.9 billion by midnight. In his order, Roberts asked the aid groups that sued the Trump administration to provide a response by noon Friday after which the court will decide its next steps. Roberts’ order came after the Trump administration sought emergency intervention by the high court after a panel of federal appeals court judges denied the administration’s earlier request to push the deadline.
