Eto’o reunites with teammate

After an Ecobank Group seminar in Douala, Eto’o emerged from the building and greeted officials outside.

As he left, he looked back and quickly noticed a man wearing a yellow G4S security uniform, per Ghana Soccernet. Turns out, it was a former teammate.

The Barcelona legend was delighted as he embraced his teammate. The two shared pleasantries before Eto’o asked his assistants to make arrangements for them to meet. The security guard is yet to be identified.

Eto’o retired in 2019 and was later elected as FECAFOOT president in 2021.

The 43-year-old played his best football at Barcelona and Inter Milan. He also enjoyed stints at Chelsea and Everton.

He joined Real Madrid at 16 but failed to secure a spot in the first team. He later joined Mallorca and later Barcelona.

In 2006, he became the only African to win the La Liga Golden Boot, netting 26 times in 34 matches, per BBC Sport.

He won a treble at Barcelona in 2009 and repeated it in 2010 with Inter Milan. In his club career, he scored over 300 goals, per Transfermarkt.

He won two AFCON titles with Cameroon and remains their record goal scorer with 56 goals in 118 games.

“Good men!!!! Both acknowledged each other regardless of the huge differences in their current status. Big up Eto’o for showing the most love and respect towards his old friend. Only men can do this out of the blue when they meet at old friend who’s down on their luck.”
