Oshiomhole Urges New Edo Governor Okpebholo to Investigate Obaseki Administration

Oshiomhole Urges New Edo Governor to Investigate Predecessor Following Supreme Court Victory

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has called on Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo to launch an investigation into his predecessor Godwin Obaseki’s administration. The Edo North lawmaker made this demand following the Supreme Court’s recent ruling that validated Okpebholo’s gubernatorial election victory.

Oshiomhole stated that the Supreme Court decision has cleared the path for accountability measures. “Now that the coast is clear, Okpebholo must probe the immediate past administration,” the former All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman reportedly said. The senator emphasized that the new governor should examine the previous government’s activities and decisions.

The Supreme Court ruling represents a significant political development for Edo State, officially confirming Okpebholo’s legitimacy as governor. This validation removes legal uncertainties that may have previously constrained the new administration’s actions. Oshiomhole’s call for investigation suggests potential concerns about the former governor’s tenure.

The relationship between Oshiomhole and Obaseki has been notably strained in recent years. Both politicians previously worked together before their political alliance deteriorated, leading to public disagreements and opposing party affiliations. Oshiomhole’s current push for investigation reflects ongoing tensions between the two political figures.

Governor Okpebholo has not yet publicly responded to Oshiomhole’s call for investigation. The new administration will likely face pressure to address these demands while establishing its own governance priorities for Edo State.
