Nana Agradaa Appeals 15-Year Fraud Sentence at High Court

Former traditional priestess turned evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, known as Nana Agradaa, has filed an appeal against her 15-year prison sentence for fraud. The appeal was submitted to the Amasaman High Court today, challenging the original ruling from an Accra Circuit Court.

Agradaa’s legal team argues that the trial court made errors in its proceedings and judgment. The appeal seeks a complete reversal of the fraud conviction that resulted in the lengthy prison term. Court documents indicate the defense claims procedural irregularities affected the trial’s outcome.

The controversial figure gained notoriety as a traditional priestess before publicly converting to Christianity and becoming an evangelist. Her transformation from fetish priestess to preacher attracted significant media attention across Ghana. The fraud charges reportedly stem from financial schemes that allegedly defrauded multiple victims of substantial amounts.

The Accra Circuit Court’s original 15-year sentence represents one of the harsher penalties handed down for fraud cases in recent months. Legal experts suggest the appeal process could take several months to resolve, depending on court schedules and case complexity.

Agradaa remains in custody while her legal team pursues the appeal. The case highlights ongoing concerns about religious fraud in Ghana, where both traditional and Christian spiritual leaders face increasing scrutiny over financial practices. The Amasaman High Court has not yet scheduled hearing dates for the appeal proceedings.
