The South African Weather Service has issued multiple warnings for severe thunderstorms and damaging winds in parts of the North West, Free State and Western Cape.

Extremely hot and uncomfortable conditions are expected over the Western Cape, Northern Cape, and Eastern Cape.

Impact-based warnings

Yellow Level 2 warning: Severe thunderstorms leading to localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges as well as large amounts of small hail over an open area are expected over the western parts of the North West, north-eastern parts of the Northern Cape and over the north-western parts of the Free State.

Yellow Level 1 warning: Damaging winds leading to difficulty in navigation at sea are expected between Cape Columbine and Hermanus in Western Cape.

Fire danger warnings

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the western and southern parts of the Northern Cape, north-western parts of the Eastern Cape and western and northern parts of the Western Cape.

Advisories

Extremely hot and uncomfortable conditions are expected over the West Coast, Cape Winelands, Central and Little Karoo districts of the Western Cape, the Kamiesberg Municipality in the Northern Cape, as well as the western parts of the Eastern Cape.
