In a touching tribute, Hunter Biden expressed his admiration for his father, Joe Biden, stating that “unconditional love” has been the guiding principle of his presidency. This heartfelt message followed the surprising announcement that Joe Biden would not seek re-election, after facing declining poll numbers and mounting pressure from the Democratic party.

Hunter described his father as a unique figure in public life, with no distinction between Joe Biden the man and Joe Biden the public servant of the past 54 years. This sentiment was echoed by other members of the Biden family, including First Lady Jill Biden and granddaughter Naomi, who voiced their support for the president’s decision.

In a statement, Biden said it had been “the greatest honor of my life to serve as your president,” but stepping down was in the best interest of his party and the nation.

Hunter, who recently received unwavering support from his father during a criminal trial, praised the empathy Joe Biden has shown towards everyday Americans. He shared how his father, despite personal heartache, has always been there to support others, even giving out his personal phone number to those in need.

Naomi Biden, Hunter’s eldest daughter, described her grandfather as “the most effective president of our lifetime.” She wrote, “He has been at the center of, and had a material impact on, literally every single major issue that our country and world has faced for 50 years.”

Jill Biden, a constant source of support for her husband, especially after his debate performance against Donald Trump, shared her husband’s statement with a heart emoji. Both Jill and Hunter were reportedly among the family members urging him not to quit the race.

Frank Biden, the president’s youngest brother, told ABC News that his brother’s decision was based on his “overall health and vitality” and the need to “beat the genuine threat to our nation” posed by Donald Trump.

The strength of the Biden family was reflected in a statement from Vice President Kamala Harris, who accepted the president’s endorsement and recalled her friendship with his late son, Beau Biden.
