ECG Announces Planned Power Outages Across Greater Accra, Tema, and Volta Regions
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will conduct scheduled maintenance work on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, affecting power supply across three major regions. The maintenance exercise targets parts of Greater Accra, Tema, and Volta Regions between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
ECG officials stated the 8-hour maintenance window aims to improve service delivery and strengthen power grid reliability. The company announced the planned interruptions to give residents and businesses advance notice for preparation.
Multiple communities across the affected regions will experience temporary power cuts during the maintenance period. The exercise forms part of ECG’s ongoing efforts to upgrade electrical infrastructure and reduce unplanned outages.
The power company typically schedules such maintenance work during daylight hours to minimize disruption to evening activities. ECG engineers will focus on critical infrastructure improvements that require complete power shutdown for safety reasons.
Residents in affected areas should prepare for the extended outage by charging electronic devices and making alternative arrangements for businesses requiring continuous power supply. The maintenance work represents ECG’s proactive approach to preventing future power system failures.
ECG expects to restore full power supply to all affected communities by 5:00 PM on Tuesday. The company advises customers to monitor official ECG communication channels for real-time updates on restoration progress throughout the maintenance period.
