Wayne Bridge has spoken about an ‘unbelievable’ fight he saw while at Chelsea He revealed how an ex-Chelsea star knocked his team-mate out in training LISTEN NOW: It’s All Kicking Off! Is it harsh on Anthony Gordon that he misses the Carabao Cup final? By SAM BROOKES Published: 03:59 EST, 5 March 2025 | Updated: 03:59 EST, 5 March 2025 Former Chelsea star Wayne Bridge has revealed how two of his former team-mates once settled their differences by fighting each other in training – and it didn’t end well for one of them. Bridge spent six years at Chelsea between 2003 and 2009, and won four major trophies including the Premier League title. It was a hugely successful period for the Blues, but that didn’t mean that the players always

Golf is the hardest sport to watch for fans of the game. This isn’t the case because of the quality of the game, but the manner in which it is played. An entire football game takes place on one singular field. Basketball belongs on a court. A baseball diamond can be seen in totality as well. You get the point. In golf, there are countless balls in play at one single time and on a number of different holes. No one pair of eyes can observe all of the action simultaneously. Beyond this particular challenge, golf broadcasts have made it even more difficult to watch in recent years. Commercial loads have been intense during various golf tournaments, which add to the difficulty of absorbing a game with so much happening
Big picture: Australia have denied India before “[T]here’s nothing more satisfying than hearing a big crowd go silent.” Pat Cummins won’t be in Dubai on Tuesday, but the words he spoke on November 18, 2023, will be. The players may not themselves be thinking about them, but viewers around the world quite likely will – if not about the words themselves, certainly about the broader theme they represent. Since winning their quarter-final game at the 2011 World Cup, India have met Australia four times in ICC ODI tournaments, winning twice and losing twice. The two wins came in round-robin matches at the 2019 and 2023 World Cups, and the defeats in the 2015 semi-finals and the 2023 final. Many months have passed since November 19, 2023, and Tuesday’s Champions Trophy

The NFL Combine is wrapping up and it’s a good time to look back at the week that was. Who helped themselves with a strong showing? Who might not have put up the numbers they wanted? A lot of the important stuff at the Combine happens behind closed doors, but what happens on the field makes or breaks prospects every year. One note from me before we dive in. It’s important not to “double count” information from the Combine. What I mean is that if we’re already ranking a prospect as a great athlete and he tests like a great athlete, we shouldn’t automatically raise him in our rankings. We were already ranking him as a great athlete, that was already being considered. What is needle-moving is when a prospect
On the road, in a rival’s sold-out arena, with the conference title and NCAA Tournament seeding implications on the line, the USC Trojans oozed confidence. Even as they endured several players dealing with foul trouble, even as the UCLA Bruins cut the deficit to two possessions in the third quarter, Lindsay Gottlieb’s team never flinched. The reason why, it seemed to be, was because they had JuJu Watkins and their opponent did not. On national television Saturday night and in front of a crowd that included basketball royalty and celebrities – from Trojans’ legend Cheryl Miller to singer John Legend – USC captured the Big Ten regular season title in its first season in the league, defeating UCLA for the second time this year, 80-67. News “To have him back and to have him fit and excited about playing is a real win for English cricket,” Brendon McCullum says There are few positives from what has been, even by England’s recent ODI standards, a disastrous Champions Trophy campaign. But according to Brendon McCullum, there were glimmers amidst the darkness. The one that shone brightest was the performance, as well as the fitness, of fast bowler Jofra Archer. He bowled his allotted quota in each of the first two games, as well as nine of the 29.1 England needed to send down in Karachi. He did so with decent pace, picking up wickets in each game, and was the pick of the English bowlers by a distance despite South Africa’s romp to victory. “He’s been out
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty plans to take pre-draft visits and meet with the Cowboys and Bears. Per Ryan Fowler, ten teams were scheduled to meet with Jeanty at the Combine including the Giants, Broncos, Vikings, Steelers, Colts, Bears, Chargers, Ravens and Saints. Fowler later added the Commanders have scheduled a formal interview. Jeanty is widely considered to be one the best running back prospects in recent years and could end up being a top-10 pick when all is said and done. He will not participate in drills at the combine but he will at his Pro Day later this spring. Jeanty, 21, spent three seasons at Boise State and ended up finishing second for the Heisman Trophy in 2024. For his career at

Mandatory Credit: Steve Roberts-Imagn Images The Nashville Predators held forward Gustav Nyquist out of their game against the host New York Islanders on Saturday afternoon due to “trade-related reasons.” The Minnesota Wild and Los Angeles Kings reportedly are potential landing spots for Nyquist, who is playing in the final season of a two-year, $6.37 million contract. Also Saturday, the Predators placed captain Roman Josi on injured reserve. The 2019-20 Norris Trophy recipient is considered week-to-week with an upper-body injury. Nyquist, 35, has totaled 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists) in 57 games this season. Josi, 34, was injured after absorbing a hit from
As an invited guest at the two-hour opening extravaganza at the main stadium of Hong Kong’s newest landmark, the Kai Tak Sports Park, I found myself exclaiming a few times and swinging through a range of emotions during the opening ceremony, not least during the moment Andy Lau Tak-wah, one of the “Four Heavenly Kings” of Cantopop, appeared on stage. I gasped, first with delight at the film star’s cameo, and then with a murmur of disappointment when he departed the stage after just three minutes without singing a single song. I was astonished to see my mother’s silver idols, 77-year-old George Lam Tsz-Cheung and his 63-year-old wife Sally Yeh Chen-ven, singing a medley of Cantopop hits from the 1980s and 90s, with Yeh dancing like a teenager. At that
Paris Saint-Germain cruised to a 4-1 win over Lille on Saturday to extend their lead in France to 16 points ahead of their heavyweight Champions League clash with Liverpool. Bradley Barcola, Marquinhos, Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue all struck in the first half at the Parc des Princes as PSG extended their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 this season to 24 matches. “It’s a perfect scenario ahead of a game like the one against Liverpool,” said PSG captain Marquinhos. “We’re in great shape and all the signs are good. We’re winning and we’re full of confidence. We must not stop and the staff are pushing us hard to give it our all.” Jonathan David grabbed a consolation after coming on as a substitute for Lille, who go to Borussia Dortmund
When this women’s college basketball season began, most folks figured that the race for the national player of the year would come down to three returning guards: UConn’s Paige Bueckers, USC’s JuJu Watkins and Notre Dame’s Hannah Hidalgo. And indeed, all three players have been mightily impressive this season and likely secured spots on the All-American First Team. A fourth player quickly rose to the top to join them in that debate and conversation in UCLA center Lauren Betts, who is averaging about 20 points and 10 rebounds per game and is the nucleus of a Bruins’ squad that started the year 23-0 and looks like a legit contender for the national title. But it feels like there’s a fifth player we should be talking about for a spot on

Mandatory Credit: Steve Roberts-Imagn Images First-period goals by Filip Forsberg and Tommy Novak held up as the host Nashville Predators snapped the Winnipeg Jets’ 11-game winning streak with a 2-1 victory on Thursday. Goaltender Juuse Saros made 23 saves as Nashville ended a two-game losing skid, arguably the most important coming in the final minute as Saros turned away a wrist shot by Nikolaj Ehlers on a golden chance to tie the affair. Neal Pionk scored the lone goal for the Jets, whose franchise-record winning spree began on Dec. 22. Eric Comrie finished with 28 saves for Winnipeg. The Jets failed
The tenth season of the six-team Pakistan Super League (PSL) will begin on April 11 with a fixture between defending champions Islamabad United and two-time champions Lahore Qalandars in Rawalpindi. The matches – 34 in total – will be played across Rawalpindi, Karachi, Multan and Lahore, with the playoffs slotted for Rawalpindi (May 13) and Lahore (May 14 and 16) and the final also in Lahore on May 18. The refurbished Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host the most matches, 13, including two of the playoff fixtures and the final, while Rawalpindi will host 11, including the opener and the first qualifier, and Karachi and Multan will host five matches each. There will be a total of three double-headers: Peshawar Zalmi vs Quetta Gladiators in Rawalpindi and Karachi Kings vs
NEW YORK – Gervonta “Tank” Davis has observed the exodus of pound-for-pound peers to Saudi Arabia and firmly stood his ground in the U.S. Davis watched as rival and four-division champion Terence Crawford became the first to headline an American card in August. He saw the sport’s most popular fighter, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, shrug off Turki Alalshikh’s boast that a UFC bout he was backing in September would “bury” the Mexican star’s Las Vegas card, only to be in business with him five months later. And he looked on as David Benavidez boarded a flight to attend Saturday’s light heavyweight championship bout in Riyadh. On Saturday night in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Baltimore’s WBA lightweight titleholder Davis, 30-0 (28 KOs), is content producing the most lucrative live boxing gate in the
