Popular Democratic Party (PDM) president McHenry Venaani has proclaimed his party as the beacon of hope for the Namibian youth and the driving force for socio-economic development. Mentioning the recent political power change in Botswana at a star rally at Walvis Bay on Saturday, he urged Namibians to not allow Swapo to enjoy a two-thirds majority and take the electorate for granted. “Youth unemployment is the biggest driver of parties losing power, because they cannot give hope to the majority of our citizens. We have been betrayed. The government’s recent failure to release updated labor statistics is a glaring example of how public trust has been eroded. The last official unemployment data we have from 2018 revealed an almost 40% unemployment rate,” he said. “Our learned estimation suggests that the

Foereign investors in different projects across Namibia have praised the country as being easy to do business in. Otjimbele project chief executive Carlos Aretxaga, speaking during a media briefing last week, said Namibia is an organised country with clear policies in place when it comes to doing business. “The policies and the legal framework are really clear: There is a rule of law and this is the first thing that is required for any investor to come and invest in a country,” said Aretxaga. “Sometimes they [investors] are scared of Africa mainly because they feel there is this uncertainty on the policy side. On the legal side, however, Namibia has a very clear legal framework, and this is actually what eases the business,” he said. However, he said there is
The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) says it is apolitical. This comes after the company’s upstream executive, Victoria Sibeya, and green hydrogen commissioner James Mnyupe were criticised for promoting national projects at a Swapo rally in Windhoek over the weekend. Sibeya referred to Swapo members as “comrades”. Namcor, however, says this choice of words was purely “conversational”, and that the company is apolitical. In a statement issued on Monday, Namcor said: “We wish to clarify that while such language may have been contextually conversational, it was not intended to indicate any political bias or alignment on the part of Namcor.” The post Namcor defends executive Sibeya’s ‘conversational’ remarks amid political backlash at Swapo rally appeared first on The Namibian.
All eyes will be on the key swing states as votes are counted in the match-up between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. Both candidates have crisscrossed the seven key swing states — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — and worked to appeal to undecided voters and connect with them over the issues that resonate most with them. While voters in these battleground states share the same concerns as the rest of Americans, there are some issues that stand out as top concerns for their residents — with the economy reigning supreme as a key voter issue with just days left until Election Day. It’s the economy “The No. 1 issue is the same as it always is, which is, it’s the economy.

LONDON — The showdown between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will in many ways be a choice between foreign policy continuity and change. Harris has largely stuck to President Joe Biden’s world agenda, one in which the outgoing leader sought to revive traditional American statesmanship after four turbulent years of Trump. Biden’s time in office, though, has seen a major deterioration in global stability. The next president will come to power in the midst of two major wars — one in Europe and one in the Middle East — in which the U.S. is deeply involved. Trump is bidding for a second term with twin promises of “America first” with “peace through strength,” accusing Biden, Harris and many other leaders of facilitating global instability through weakness
Trump calls himself ‘father of fertilization’ Speaking during his second North Carolina rally of the day, former President Donald Trump called himself the “father of fertilization,” as he described conversations with an Alabama senator about in vitro fertilization treatments. “I consider myself to be the father of fertilization,” said Trump to laughs from the audience, explaining his support for IVF, which was thrust into limbo in Alabama after a court decision in the wake of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. “Katie Britt, the senator from Alabama, called up. ‘Sir, you have to help us. You have to help us. I said, ‘Explain.’ She said, ‘About what happened with the IVF. The judge said, close all the clinics all over Alabama.’ And she said, ‘Everyone is furious.’ I said
ATLANTA — Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump zeroed in on the Sun Belt on Saturday as they embarked on one last weekend quest to sway every undecided voter in the battleground states. The presidential candidates pitched rival agendas on the economy — and more — that each insisted is what Americans want. “We have overcome every attack, every abuse and even two assassination attempts,” Trump said at a rally in Gastonia, North Carolina, outside Charlotte. “And now it all comes down to this.” Harris has been urging her supporters to vote early so she can be elected and provide the “new generation of leadership” that she argues she represents. “I am ready to offer that leadership as the next president of the United States of America,” she said
November 1, 2024 5 minutes read THE good old book, the Bible, states emphatically that God created all things under the sun and also those beneath the ocean. He then created man in His own image to have dominion over all the things that He has created. To be able to effectively take charge of all the possessions, the Creator offered man an extraordinary honour, worth and value, which He also possesses to enable man to duly represent Him so that every other creature would be a subject or subordinate to him (man). In this case, man, by this virtue, becomes the owner (the leader, if you like) of all creatures. Very exciting and inspiring. Since then and even after the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, all

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NEW YORK — When Republican Rep. Mike Lawler walked around a trick-or-treat event at Strawtown Elementary School in West Nyack Friday, he was mobbed by people asking for selfies, ecstatic that the first term lawmaker seeking reelection in a battleground district showed up. Except none of them could vote. They were all children. But after tens of millions of dollars have been spent here on a crucial House race, the kids still surprisingly knew exactly who he was — or at least supposed to be, asking if it was really him or someone in a hyper realistic Lawler Halloween costume. That’s not to say the reaction was without value — these kids’ parents do vote, and in a tight race between Lawler and former Democratic Rep. Mondaire Jones
Voting by mail has steadily become a more popular option for Americans to cast their ballot, however, it has come under attack with baseless accusations of fraud and mistrust. And in recent days they have come under literal fire from suspected perpetrators. But despite these threats, election officials and law enforcement have worked rigorously to ensure that those ballots are not only delivered and counted on time but also free from any type of fraud. Cynthia Mamle Morrison , the Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona West, one of four seats recently declared vacant by the Speaker of Parliament , has complained about a supposed vote-buying scheme in her constituency. Cynthia Mamle Morrison , in an interview aired on Metro TV on Thursday, October 24, 2024, indicated that her constituents have been transferring their votes to the neighbouring Effutu Constituency. According to her, she has been told that her constituents are leaving to go and vote in Effutu because the MP for the constituency, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, who is also the leader of the NPP caucus in Parliament , has been offering them GH¢1000. The embattled legislator made these accusations while lamenting about the inadequate support her constituency receives from the government despite its size.
To read some accounts of the presidential race, voters could be forgiven for thinking Vice President Kamala Harris is in dire trouble, while former President Donald Trump is preparing for a White House return. But in reality, both campaigns are bracing for a coin flip of a race, with each side seeing both paths to victory and potential pitfalls, according to conversations with six operatives from both parties. Democrats have begun their biannual tradition of biting their nails down to the cuticles, a level of nervousness some in the party said falls short of a true reflection of Harris’ chances. And while Republicans are feeling strong that Harris’ summer surge has faded, they recognize the race is still far from settled for Trump while warning the party and its voters
