Indigenes of the Jimba Oja community in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, under the aegis of the Jimba Oja Descendants Congress (JODC), have urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to investigate the processes that led to the appointment of the new traditional ruler of the community. Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Friday, the spokesperson for the community and Administrator General of the JODC, Alhaji Olanrewaju Bakare, alongside other members of the community, stated that the selection of the new traditional ruler, Oba Ismail Adebayo, did not follow due process. Judge rules Biden’s program for undocumented spouses is illegal

The initiative was announced by President Biden in June. November 7, 2024, 9:17 PM A federal judge has struck down the Biden administration’s program known as “Keeping Families Together,” dealing a major blow to the estimated half a million undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens that DHS estimates would have benefited. The administration announced the program in June, but a coalition of 16 Republican-led states — led by Texas and Stephen Miller’s America First Legal — quickly filed a lawsuit after applications were made available in August. A federal judge put the program on hold just days after hopeful applicants filed their paperwork. The program would have provided temporary relief from deportation for undocumented spouses and stepchildren of U.S. citizens through a process known as “parole in place.” It would have

Irish general election to be officially called

The Taoiseach (Irish prime minister) is anticipated to announce the date of the Republic of Ireland’s general election later. Earlier this week, Taoiseach Simon Harris indicated a preference for a polling day on 29 November. He is the leader of Fine Gael and heads a coalition government alongside Fianna Fáil and the Green Party. A general election must be called in the Republic of Ireland before the term ends on March 2025. The taoiseach has faced persistent questions over the timing of the election for months, previously sidestepping requests to provide a definitive timeline. However, on Wednesday, he signalled his hope for a polling day on 29 November saying: “There you go, clarity.” He went on to say: “I look forward to the weeks ahead and to asking the people

Democrats sift through ‘unmitigated disaster’ after Trump victory: ANALYSIS

In the end, most voters did want to go back. Vice President Kamala Harris and Democrats pounded away at a message of turning the page on former President Donald Trump and his brand of politics, promoting former aides who questioned his commitment to democracy and producing their own plans to combat things like price gouging and high home costs. Wednesday morning, though, they were reckoning with a stunning sweep by Trump, who as the now-president-elect, appeared set for a swing-state sweep and left Democrats wondering how it all went so wrong. “Complete, unmitigated disaster,” Democratic strategist Chris Kofinis said when asked about the results. “That was a wholesale repudiation of the Democratic message, the Democratic strategy, Harris’ candidacy. There is no way to sugarcoat what an abject disaster this was.”

How Trump Pulled Off an Incredible Comeback

This is surely the most dramatic comeback in United States (US) political history. Four years after leaving the White House, Donald Trump is set to move back in, after millions of Americans voted to give him a second chance. The election campaign was one for the history books: He survived two assassination attempts and his original opponent, president Joe Biden, dropped out just months before election day. Although final votes are still being counted, the majority of Americans in key battleground states chose to vote for him, with many citing the economy and immigration as chief concerns. His triumph comes after a spectacular fall. He refused to accept the results of the 2020 election, which he lost to Biden, and his role in trying to overturn the election results to

Featured Dickson Worlanyo Dotse Nov – 06 – 2024 , 16:21 The Speaker of Parliament, Alban S.K. Bagbin has described the current stand off in Parliament, and the matters before the Supreme Court as a collective attempt by the Judiciary and the executive to weaken the legislative arm of government.  Speaking at a press conference in Accra Wednesday afternoon [Nov 6, 2024], to address the state of affairs of Ghana’s parliament, Mr Bagbin said Parliament was a repository of the sovereign will of the people. As such, any act by anybody into its affairs was an interference and therefore posed a direct challenge to the essence, jurisdiction, authorities, powers and functions to the workings of Parliament.  “The current brouhaha may be likened to a power play between the arms of
