IFMA Ghana Establishes Student Chapter at Sunyani Technical University
The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Ghana Chapter has launched its first student chapter at Sunyani Technical University, marking a significant milestone for facility management education in the region.
The launch ceremony coincided with the official inauguration of STU’s newly created Department of Architecture and Real Estate. This dual celebration positions the university as a key player in Ghana’s growing property and facility management sector.
IFMA Ghana’s expansion into academic institutions reflects the increasing demand for skilled facility management professionals across West Africa. The student chapter will provide STU students with direct access to industry networking opportunities, professional development resources, and international certification pathways.
The Department of Architecture and Real Estate represents STU’s commitment to addressing Ghana’s infrastructure development needs. Students will gain practical skills in building design, property management, and real estate development through hands-on training programs.
This partnership creates a direct pipeline between academic training and industry requirements. Students can now pursue IFMA certifications while completing their degrees, enhancing their employability in Ghana’s competitive job market.
The initiative supports Ghana’s National Infrastructure Plan, which emphasizes sustainable building practices and professional facility management. STU becomes the second Ghanaian university to host an IFMA student chapter, following similar programs at other technical institutions nationwide.
Both organizations expect the partnership to produce 50-75 certified facility management professionals annually within three years.
