Celebs Star In New Googles Black-Owned Friday Campaign Ad

Google has kicked off its fifth annual Black-Owned Friday campaign in partnership with the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. The initiative redefines Black Friday, urging shoppers to Search, Shop, and Support Black-owned businesses. It’s more than a shopping day, it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and resilience.

What Is Black-Owned Friday?

Google launched Black-Owned Friday five years ago to promote and support Black-owned businesses during the busiest shopping season of the year. The campaign encourages consumers to make intentional choices by spotlighting Black entrepreneurs who uplift their communities through innovation and craftsmanship. Moreover, tools like the ByBlack platform and Google’s Black-owned business attribute make it easier to discover and support these businesses year-round.

A Star-Studded Campaign

This year’s campaign film, directed by Lucas, features the rapper GloRilla, comedian Druski, and entrepreneur Jayda Cheaves. Together, they highlight thriving Black-owned businesses while infusing the campaign with humor and heart. GloRilla explains, “Supporting Black-owned businesses is more than a moment, it’s a movement. It’s how we grow, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

Additionally, Druski adds a personal touch, saying, “Every choice we make can uplift the culture…plus, who doesn’t love a good smoothie, shape-up, and yoga session?” Reminding viewers that community support can be both meaningful and fun.

Stories of Impact

For entrepreneurs like Valaurie Lee, owner of The Wellness Spot, Black-Owned Friday also represents more than just a promotional opportunity. “Community support is the heartbeat of businesses like mine,” she shares. Her story, from dreaming in College Park, Georgia, to running a luxury wellness brand, inspires others to pursue their goals and invest in their communities.

Jeanette Sellers, owner of Wadada Healthy Market & Juice Bar, echoes this sentiment. “I’ve witnessed firsthand how Black-owned businesses empower and uplift. Partnering with Google was an amazing way to share our story and emphasize why supporting Black businesses matters.”

This black Friday, you too can discover featured businesses like EssenceTree for natural beauty products or Pretty Thuggish for bold fashion statements. Find your next favorite brand here and don’t forget to share your finds on social media
