Pop Star Justin Timberlake to Appear in Court for DWI Charge in Sag Harbor
Justin Timberlake is set to face a driving while intoxicated (DWI) charge in the Hamptons, New York. A local court official confirmed to Esbecgroup that the pop singer and actor will be arraigned on Tuesday.
The arraignment is scheduled at the Sag Harbor courthouse, following Timberlake’s arrest in the same community on Monday night, as reported by New York’s Newsday.
Sag Harbor village police have not yet released any details about the arrest but promised to provide more information later on Tuesday.
This DWI arrest comes nearly a year after Timberlake discussed his past struggles with excessive drinking on Oprah’s Master Class. He spoke about seeking help for his addiction and focusing on self-care, as reported by Singersroom.
The arrest is likely to spark another wave of negative publicity for Timberlake. He has been dealing with the fallout from Britney Spears’ 2023 memoir, in which his ex-girlfriend and former Mickey Mouse Club castmate accused him of pressuring her to abort a pregnancy during their relationship from 1999 to 2002.
Spears’ revelation led to widespread criticism of Timberlake, whose career flourished after the controversial 2004 Super Bowl incident with Janet Jackson, while Spears’ career suffered.
Despite Spears’ subsequent apology and praise for Timberlake’s comeback single, “Selfish,” the backlash continued. Timberlake’s career has been on a downward trajectory, with his latest album debuting at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100, and his “Forget Tomorrow” tour struggling with ticket sales.
As news of his arrest spread, tickets remained available for upcoming tour concerts in Chicago and New York City.
Timberlake’s representatives have not yet commented on his arrest in Sag Harbor.
