Andy Murray starts the Miami Open by beating No 2 Daniil Medvedev. He then meets top seed Roger Federer in the second round.
Murray beat Argentina’s Juan Ignacio Chela on Thursday, but only just, to reach the semi-finals of the US Open.
Eventually, he took a 6-4 lead in the final set, and Delbonis doubled faulted.
After losing in the second round at Indian Wells last week, Murray broke immediately in the second set and coasted to victory.
Roger Federer, who had defeated Novak Djokovic and Milos Raonic earlier in the week, will face the top-seeded Russian for a place in the final.
Medvedev recently spent three weeks as the number one ranked tennis player in the world, and he’ll have to make it to the semi-finals in Miami to jump past Novak.
When Murray met Medvedev at the U.S. Open, he said, “It’s obviously a tough match.
He’s one of the world’s best tennis players.
