iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 and its Killer Features

Apple is back with another big iOS update, this time in the form of iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5.

Now the latest update for your iPhone and iPad brings a full list of changes and better improvements.

There’s a new feature that is so amazing, this feature makes unlocking your iPhone with Face ID while wearing a face mask breathtaking. The facial recognition doesn’t generally work when users are wearing a mask. Apple’s work-around involves you also owning an Apple Watch.

Also, there’s a requirement that app makers ask you for permission to track you across the web and other apps, which is a welcome privacy addition.

This controversial new privacy update gives iPhone users control over how their data is tracked by third parties – and this doesn’t make Facebook and other data tracking business empires any happy.

In a latest video promoting ATT in iOS 14.5, Apple made thinly veiled swipes at Facebook’s business model, which is clearly based on advertising. In the video, it details how apps are collecting data such as your “age, location, health information, spending habits and your browsing history” just to name a few. However, the latest iOS 14.5 software update, gives iPhone owners a choice over how apps use and share their data, including browsing history, age, location, health information and spending habits among others.

One more under the radar feature with the new update for iPhone 12 series users is the ability to have 5G connectivity in Dual SIM mode.

iOS 14.5 includes a feature for those who take advantage of the ‌iPhone‌’s Dual-SIM functionality. It introduces global support for 5G in Dual-SIM mode on the ‌iPhone 12‌ models.

The Dual-SIM feature on the ‌iPhone 12‌ will have two lines of service on a single ‌iPhone‌, useful for traveling or keeping separate numbers for home and work preferably.

According to Apple, Siri, its voice-controlled assistant, is becoming more varied.

“Siri no longer has a default voice, allowing users to choose the voice that speaks to them when they first set up their device,” says Apple.

“In English, users can now select more diverse voice options. These new Siri voices use Neural Text to Speech technology for an incredibly natural sound,” Apple says.

Apple has said that updates represent longstanding commitments to diversity and inclusion.

iOS 14.5 update introduces support for Apple’s newly released AirTags, allowing them to be tracked within the Find My app.

AirTags‌ have a lost mode, that can be tracked through sound, and can be found through the ‌Find My‌ network by utilizing the iPhones, iPads, and Macs of people who are nearby a lost item.

Apple has introduced several new emojis characters in its latest iOS 14.5 update. Apple introduces new emojis including heart on fire, mending heart, exhaling face, face with spiral eyes, face in clouds, along with different gender options for people with beards and couple emojis that have new skin tone mixes.
