Billboard‘s 14th annual Women in Music event is just a few weeks away from returning to Los Angeles, and Alicia Keys, Megan Thee Stallion and RosalĂa will be celebrated for their contributions to female empowerment.
Keys will be honored with the American Express Impact Award for her work with She is the Music, which she formed with Jody Gerson, Sam Kirby Yoh and Ann Mincieli. Since unveiling the organization’s overall goal at last year’s Women In Music event, She is the Music has partnered with the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, Universal and Billboard; launched a Latin committee; held all-female writing camps and garnered support from festivals like All Things Go and the NMPA Songs Foundation.
Megan Thee Stallion, quickly establishing herself as a cultural icon by spearheading the “hot girl summer” trend, will receive this year’s Powerhouse Award for rolling out endless hits. Spanish singer-songwriter RosalĂa will receive the Rising Star Award after changing the sound of today’s mainstream music with her fresh flamenco-influenced pop.
“Women in Music is a celebration of artists and executives who are changing the world through their work. We are excited to honor Alicia Keys, RosalĂa and Megan thee Stallion, whose singular visions and voices are shifting our culture while inspiring fans to stay true to themselves,” said Hannah Karp, Billboard’s editorial director.
The trio will join previously announced honorees Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Alanis Morissette, Nicki Minaj, Brandi Carlile and Roc Nation chief operating officer Desiree Perez at the 2019 Women in Music event, presented by YouTube Music and hosted by last year’s Rising Star honoree Hayley Kiyoko.
The event and red carpet pre-show will stream live from the Hollywood Palladium on Dec. 12 at YouTube.com/Billboard starting at 9 p.m. ET.
2019’s Women in Music will be sponsored by YouTube Music, American Express, Bumble Bizz, FIJI Water, Honda, JNSQ Wines, Live Nation / Women Nation and PATRĂ“N Tequila. Keep up on all things Women in Music at Billboard.com/women-in-music and check out updates on Instagram and Twitter via @billboard and the hashtag #BBWomenInMusic.
